Donna Shalala raised just over $1 million the most recent quarter
Miami, FL – Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton will be in South Florida October 24 to host a fundraiser for Donna Shalala. The location and time of the luncheon will be announced next week. “It is such an honor to have Hillary coming to South Florida to support our campaign,” Shalala said. “Senator Clinton has been my friend for 40 years, but more importantly, she is a trailblazer for women everywhere.”
Shalala’s friendship with the Clintons goes back several decades. She served as Secretary of the Health & Human Services Department under President Bill Clinton from 1993-2001. Shalala and Hillary Clinton have been close friends since they served together on the Board of the Children’s Defense Fund. The two also worked together to create and have Congress approve CHIP, which currently provides health coverage for approximately 9 million children across the country.
The Clinton luncheon fundraiser also comes as Shalala announced that she has raised over $1 million in the most recent quarter. “We are receiving significant support from throughout the community. It’s further evidence that the district is prepared for new leadership that will reject the Trump and Republican agenda and instead focus on the issues that matter most to residents including access to quality affordable healthcare, protecting our children in their schools, adapting to sea-level rise, addressing gun violence and investing in our infrastructure,” Shalala said.
